New Margaritone secondary school

As a result of an architectural competition, the new Secondary School “Margaritone� rises in high value surroundings, next to a hill and an urban park. The new buildings, distinctly independent from one another, are settled on a courtyard layout: plain approach to geometry and shapes, traditional local materials: every element let the new volumes perfectly blend in with the surroundings. Functional layout dictates guidelines for structural design that hinges on rigor and rationality. The structures in the classroom building adapt to a double height volume for common areas with big windows facing the garden. The gym shapes up to be the main building in the general layout: the double-level structural frame serves a volume eight meters height with a wooden roof, in which the wavy lamellar beams are displayed in the façade design.
