The project, located in the ancient village of Castelnuovo dei Sabbioni, in the municipality of Cavriglia, in the northern part of the Province of Arezzo, involved the urban redevelopment and regeneration of the area with the aim of transforming it into a center of innovation and creativity. This initiative represents a key component of a broader strategy for the revitalization of the former mining territory, which the Municipality has been progressively implementing over the years.
The project is set within a significant context that encompasses both socio-economic aspects, linked to mining activity, and environmental aspects, due to the presence of an area of notable natural and landscape interest.
The interventions planned for the village must therefore be understood as part of a comprehensive redevelopment program for the wider area—a regeneration project that, over time, aims to become a point of reference both locally and on the national stage.
At the heart of the intervention is the redevelopment of lots 1 and 2A (with protected buildings), 2B, and 4, supported by a detailed plan for the reactivation and revitalization of public and private spaces. By addressing the various design themes identified, it was possible to recreate an environment that is recognizable, usable, and accessible, positioning it as a vibrant hub for the entire territory.
