New nursery school in Villalfonsina (CH)

We want to tell you about the project for the new “Santa Irene” nursery school in the municipality of Villalfonsina (CH) carried out by our team of designers in collaboration with the MAR_ZZO Architettura studio composed of the architect. Marco De Vicentis, Arch. Emanuel Falappa and Arch. Silvio Pennesi and with the collaboration of the Geologist Gianni Focardi.

The project, financed by the European Union – Next Generation EU within the PNRR, is the result of a research process that starts from the present, from the needs of the Administration but looks to the future with the ambition of wanting to contribute to being a point of reference for the local population and for the national school panorama.

The design puts into practice the suggestions and guidelines of the School Plan 4.0 to imagine a school structure that can be innovative and inclusive, with hybrid learning spaces, so as to become a real catalyst of urban and social life.

  • Architectural distribution: The lot is organized according to a clear functional division with the aim of creating new relationships and connections with the context.
  • General architectural composition: Soft and organic lines characterize the architectural artefact, adapting to the irregular contour of the lot, minimizing the visual impact and enhancing the view of the surrounding green panorama.
  • Overall eco-sustainability: Material and technological choices that favor the ecological transition and reduce the environmental impact, such as: natural materials with a short supply chain, recycled and recyclable; large windows, appropriately screened; the use of renewable energy; the reuse of rainwater for irrigation purposes.
  • Aesthetic character: A curvilinear and dynamic volume surrounded by a white perforated metal “skin” that contrasts chromatically with the warm color of the external plaster. New geometries and traditional materials create a new, unexpected dialogue, creating a new relationship of balance with the context and the existing.

Just in these days the municipality of Villalfonsina has certified the good and regular execution of the services and the construction site will start shortly!
